Heterobimetallic Complexes of Rhenium Containing bis(Dimethylphosphino)Methane
The synthesis of the "metalloligand" fac-ReBr(CO)(3)(eta 1-dmpm)(2) (dmpm = bis(dimethylphosphino)methane) (3) is reported together with its use for the synthesis of heterobimetallic complexes. With Cr(CO)(4)(NBD), 3 yields fac-ReBr(CO)(3)(mu-dmpm)(2)Cr(CO)(4) (4), while with Mo(CO)(3)(CHT) the product is fac-Re(CO)(3)(mu-Br)(mu-dmpm)(2)Mo(CO)(3) (5). Reaction of 3 with Co-2(CO)(8) forms [fac-Re(CO)(3)(mu-Br)(mu-dmpm)(2)Co(CO)(2)][Co(CO)(4)].MeCN (6,) and with [Rh(COD)(acetone)(x)]OTf a mixture of [fac-Re(CO)(3)(mu-Br)(mu-dmpm)(2)Rh(CO)]OTf (7) and fac-Re(CO)(3)(mu-dmpm)(2)Rh(CO)Br-2 (8) results. Complex 3 and PdCl2(PhCN)(2) form fac-Re(CO)(3)Br(mu-dmpm)(2)PdCl2, while with Pt(C2H4)(PPh(3))(2) the initial product is a mixture of [fac-Re(CO)(3)(mu-dmpm)(2)Pt(PPh(3))]BrH2O (12) and fac-Re(CO)(3)(mu-dmpm)2(P)tBr (11). Treatment of this mixture with NaBPh(4) converts it all to [fac-Re(CO)(3)(mu-dmpm)(2)Pt(PPh(3))]BPh(4) (10). The crystal structures of 5-8 and 12 have been determined. 5 : Orthorhombic, P2(1)2(1)2(1); a = 8.5227(8), b = 10.943(1), c = 28.013(2) Angstrom; Z = 4. 6 : Monoclinic, P2(1)/c; a = 14.006(1), b = 9.1423(9), c = 26.895(2) Angstrom; beta = 101.089(5)degrees; Z = 4. 7 : Triclinic, P1 $($) over bar$$; a = 11.962(1), b = 13.596(1), c = 9.957(1) Angstrom; alpha = 99.861(8), beta = 103.164(8), gamma = 66.216(7)degrees; Z = 2. 8 : Orthorhombic, Pca2(1); a = 12.852(2), b = 13.979(1), c = 14.080(3) Angstrom; Z = 4. 12 : Monoclinic, P2(1)/c; a = 12.224(2), b = 9.737(1), c = 31.986(5) Angstrom; beta = 90.93(1)degrees; Z = 4.
