Syntheses, Structures, and Magnetic-Properties of 2 Dinuclear Iron(III) Citrate Complexes
Two dinuclear ferric citrate complexes, (Hpy)(2)[Fe-2-(cit)(2)(H2O)(2)].2H(2)O (1) and (Hneo)(3)[Fe-2(Hcit)(3)].nH(2)O (2), were prepared and crystallographically characterized. In 1 two alkoxide-bridged iron atoms are octahedrally coordinated and share an edge (Fe...Fe 3.120(1) Angstrom). Compound 2 has a face-shared octahedral structure (Fe...Fe = 2.830(1) Angstrom) with three bridging alkoxide groups. Magnetic susceptibility studies revealed 2 to be a rare example of a face-sharing d(5)-d(5) system which is ferromngnetically coupled.
