Influence of Lead(II) Lone Pairs on the Serpentine Structures for Heterometallic Alkoxides
Pb((OPr)-Pr-i)(2) reacts with Zr((OPr)-Pr-i)(4) according to two distinct stoichiometries to give the products Pb4Zr2((OPr)-Pr-i)(16) and Pb2Zr4((OPr)-Pr-i)(20), each of which has a serpentine (i.e., noncloso) structure composed of the building blocks Pb-2((OPr)-Pr-i)(4), PbZr((OPr)-Pr-i)(6), and Zr-2((OPr)-Pr-i)(8). These two M(2)M’(4) molecules can also be interconverted in a rational manner.
