Contrasting Reactivity of (No)BF4 with CpRu(Pph(3))(L)Sr, L=pph(3) or Co
The ruthenium atom of CpRu(PPh(3))(2)SR is attacked by NOBF4 to give the cationic nitrosyl complexes [CpRu-(PPh(3))(NO)SR]BF4. Upon replacement of one of the labile PPh(3) groups with the stronger pi-acid CO group, treatment of CpRu(PPh(3))(CO)SR with NOBF4 oxidatively couples the thiolate ligands to give the disulfide-bridged dimer [(CpRu(PPh(3))(CO))(2)S(2)R(2)](BF4)(2), when R = 4-C(6)H(4)Me and the monomeric disulfide complex [CpRu(PPh(3))(CO)S(2)R(2)]BF4 when R = CMe(3).
