Two neutral silver(I)-phenylethynide clusters incorporating the [((BuPO3)-Bu-t)(4)V4O8](4-) unit as an integral shell component, namely {(NO3)(2)@Ag-16(C CPh)(4)[((BuPO3)-Bu-t)(4)V4O8](2)(DMF)(6)(NO3)(2)}center dot DMF center dot H2O and {[(O-2)V2O6](3)@Ag-43(C CPh)(19)[((BuPO3)-Bu-t)(4)V4O8](3)(DMF)(6)}center dot 5DMF center dot 2H(2)O, have been isolated and characterized by X-ray crystallography. The central cavities of the Ag-16 and Ag-43 clusters are occupied by two NO3- and three [(O-2)V2O6](4-) template anions, respectively.
