Structure and Magnetic-Behavior of a New 2-Dimensional Antiferromagnetic Manganese(II)-Mu-1,3-Azido System
A new two-dimensional manganese system has been characterized from the structural and magnetic point of view. The compound with formula [Mn(4acpy)(2)(N-3)(2)], 4acpy = 4-acetylpyridine, shows an unusually large Mn-Mn intralayer distance close to 6 Angstrom. The azido ligand acts as an end-to-end bridge between the manganese ions. Magnetic susceptibility data between 300 and 4 K indicate antiferromagnetic behavior and susceptibility, and EPR measurements are indicative of long-range order below 28 K.
