Functionalization of Linear and Star-Shaped Polyglycidols with Vinyl Sulfonate Groups and Their Reaction with Different Amines and Alcohols
Linear and star-shaped polyglycidols were prepared using ethoxy ethyl glycidyl ether (EEGE) as monomer and 3-phenyl-1-propanol and dipentaerythritol as initiator, respectively. These polymers were treated with 2-chloroethylsulfonyl chloride to form reactive vinyl sulfonate end groups. The high reactivity of the vinyl sulfonate end groups toward amines, alcohols, and amino acids was investigated. All polymers were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance and size exclusion chromatography.
