Electrical properties of the all-glass composite silver ion conductors
The work studies electrical conductivity of binary all-glass composites composed of superionic phosphate, vanadate, molybdate and tungstate glasses by means of the impedance spectroscopy in the temperature range from -140 degrees C to +20 degrees C. Electrical properties of the composites can be modelled using a simple equivalent circuit typically applicable for homogeneous systems. Effective conductivity fulfils the Arrhenius dependence within a whole range of temperature. It was shown, that the values of effective activation energy related to conductivity of the composite could be represented by a linear function of activation energies of the component glasses. The obtained results prove, that although the all-glass superionic composites have heterogeneous microstructure, electrically they behave as homogeneous materials and this feature has a general nature.
