Temperature-Dependence of the Electron-Transfer in a (Mnmniii)-Mn-II(Mu-Oh) Mixed-Valence Manganese
The observed metal-ligand bond lengths in the mixed-valence complex [ttacnMn(II)(mu-OH)(mu-pivalonato)(2)-Mn(III)ttacn](ClO4)(2) show a significant temperature dependence in the 20-298 K range. Spectroscopic and crystallographic evidence indicates the temperature dependence to be due to a superposition of two orientations with different energies in the crystal, which are interconverted by electron transfer between the metal centers.
