A novel metallopolymer of DM-DCNQI (2,5-DM-DCNQI = 2,5-dimethyl-N,N’-dicyanoquinone diimine) has been structurally determined. [Mo-2(O2CCF3)(4)(2,5-DM-DCNQI). C6H6](n) crystallizes with enclathrated benzene which forms pi-stacks with DM-DCNQI along the c direction. The orientation of the zigzag chains viewed down the c axis involves an ...ABAB... pattern wherein the Mo-2 units in adjacent chains are oriented perpendicular to each other as depicted in the diagram below.
