Is the Unusual 3-Center D-H---A-M Hydrogen-Bond Really Unusual
A report on the structure of 2,6-diphenylpyridinium tetrachloroaurate in this journal noted the presence of X = Cl, D = N). The pattern is readily identified as R-1(2)(4) using the graph set notation of the late M. C. Etter (Ace. Chem. Res. 1990, 23, 120). A search on this pattern in the Cambridge Structural Database thousands of examples with a wide variety of chemical functionality.
