Structure and magnetic properties of (meso-tetraphenylporphinato)manganese(III)pentacyanopropenide, [Mn-III,TPP](+)[C-3(CN)(5)](-). An unusual asymmetric bridge-bonding mode for mu-[C-3(CN)(5)](-)
Reaction of Ag[C-3(CN)(5)] and [(MnTPP)-T-III]Cl (TPP=meso-tetraphenylporphinate) leads to [(MnTPP)-T-III](+)[C-3(CN)(5)](-), which has been crystallographically, spectroscopically, and magnetically characterized. This complex forms a 1-D ***D(+)A(-)D(+)A(-)*** coordination polymer with [C-3(CN)(5)](-)(A) having an unusual mu asymmetric bridge bonding and the cation (D) being unusually puckered. The zero-field-splitting parameter is -4.0K(-2.8cm(-1)) for Mn-III is this six-coordinate environment.
