Bulk Solids Moistening using Spray Nozzles for Suppression of Fugitive Dust Emissions
A calculation method for the lay out design of water spraying systems was carried out so that minimum water consumption at maximum fugitive dust suppression can be accomplished. The method is based on a bell curve function which is able to describe the space resolved moisture input on an area below the spray nozzle. This space resolved moisture input was experimentally recorded for different spraying parameters from where the different bell curve functions could be calculated. The constants that describe the shape of the bell curve function for different spraying parameters are converted in a numerical data array. The dependency of material specific emission factors on bulk solids moisture was determined by bulk solid drop experiments.
