Polyphenylacetylene derivatives substituted by dialkylanilino-appended alkyne side chains were synthesized by Rh-catalyzed polymerization. Improved oxygen barrier ability was achieved by the postfunctional, controlled introduction of four nitrile groups into the repeat unit of the polyphenylacetylene derivatives.
