Electrochemical Characteristics of a Ni-GDC Nanoparticles-Structured-in-Nanowire as an Anode for LT-SOFCs
Nanostructured functional oxides have attracted a great research interest as important constituents of electrochemical devices. A new type of porous nickel oxide and ceria (NiO-Ce0.9Gd0.1O1.95, a typical anode material for solid oxide fuel cells) nanoparticles-structured-in-nanowire was synthesized. The sizes of the nickel oxide-ceria particles and pores in the nanowire are in the nanometer scale. The anode polarization resistance of such nanowire is similar to 0.77 Omega cm(2) at 660 degrees C. This result demonstrates that the nanowire is a potential alternative to an anode material for low temperature solid oxide fuel cells (LT-SOFCs). (c) 2010 The Electrochemical Society.
