Flux growth of a potential nonlinear optical crystal BaMgBO3F
A new noncentrosymmetric fluoroborate crystal BaMgBO3F (BMBF) has been investigated. BMBF single crystal with dimensions of 26 x 19 x 4 mm(3) (7.3 g) has been grown by the top-seeded solution growth (TSSG) method from a high-temperature melt. The crystal is found to be transparent down to 190 nm with two absorption shoulders at 220 and 270 nm, which are probably due to the inclusions or impurity ions in the crystal. The thermal and nonlinear optical properties of the grown BMBF crystal are also discussed in this paper. (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
