Growth of quantum paraelectric La1/2Na1/2TiO3 single crystals using optical floating zone technique
The first successful growth of La1/2Na1/2TiO3 (LNTO) single crystals by floating zone method is reported. This growth requires specific atmosphere conditions to avoid vaporization of Na, and a post-growth annealing under dioxygen to get pure LNTO phase. We report, for the first time, dielectric measurements on a LNTO crystal, which confirm the quantum paraelectric behavior of this material. (C) 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
