Electrochemical polymerization of bithiophene in a crystalline solvent was demonstrated. The polymer thus prepared exhibits sphere structure resembling crystal structures. Electrochemical redox process for the polymer induces changes in color and absorption spectra, accompanied by electrochemical redox process. The polymer has characteristics of both electroactivity and crystal order. The results demonstrate electrochemical polymerization in crystals and structural form transcription in the polymerization process. (c) 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
