Electrochemical H-2 diffusion in Si and Ni
The electrochemical hydrogen absorption-desorption in p-Si and Ni sponge was studied by cyclic voltametry. The voltammogram for Si in the alkaline media in the potential range E = +/-1.8 to +/-0.3 V (vs SCE) showed an increase in the hydrogen evolution current at a potential of about +/-1.2 V, which indicates hydrogen evolution/absorption at this potential. The voltammogram for Ni in the alkaline media in the potential range E = +/-1.3 to +/-0.2 V (vs SCE) showed a cathodic peak at +/-1.13 V, which may be attributed to an absorption prewave due to water electroreduction to H-ads.
