Transformations in titanium dihydride phase
Titanium hydrides TiH1.99, TiH1.89, TiH1.60, and deuteride TiD1.99 were synthesized and studied using DTA and DSC techniques in the temperature range 80-600 K. The results were compared with the previously reported H-1 NMR data for TiH1.99. In addition to the known f.c.c.-f.c transformation at 290-300 K, a new transformation of the second kind was found in TiH2-x near 450 K. The results obtained do not confirm the appreciable occupancy of octahedral interstices by hydrogen atoms in titanium hydride.
