Droplet Flux Distributions and Entrainment in Horizontal Gas-Liquid Flows
Measurements of entrainment and of droplet distributions are presented for air and water flowing in a horizontal 0.095 m pipe. A stratification of drops is observed because of the influence of gravity. Entrainment does not depend on pipe diameter and it increases strongly with increasing gas velocity. At small gas velocities, it is lower in horizontal pipes than in vertical pipes because gravitational settling enhances deposition.
