The paper deals with theoretical possibilities of making use of the sedimentation test for predicting the course of a continuous process. The interpretation of the sedimentation curve and of special geometric constructions in order to determine the continuous sedimentation area is presented. The effect of building-up the sediment from the bottom of cylinder during the sedimentation test on the predicted area of continuous sedimentation is taken into consideration.
