A SIMPLIFIED MODEL OF DESORPTION FROM FIXED-BED HEATED DIRECTLY BY ELECTRIC-CURRENT
A simplified model of feted bed desorption from activated carbon heated directly by electric current has been proposed. The model is based on the so-called equilibrium theory. In the process studied, the gaseous phase consists of two components: recovered solvents and inert gas left within the void volume of the bed. The component mass balances were expressed in the form of a set of two partial differential equations (PDE), (Eqs. (2), (5)). The system of the first order (PDE) is conveniently solved by the method of characteristics. Because the initial and the inlet conditions are of constant type, the system of PDE can be reduced to a system of ordinary differential equations (ODE), (Eqs. (6), (7)).
