Calculating mass transfer
Wiped film evaporators (WFEs) often are used to strip the residual of monomers and/or solvents from polymers to the parts-per-million level. Facilities can achieve substantial improvements in the monomer-removal rate by enhancing the mass transfer coefficient and staging the process to achieve low residual concentrations.
