Effect of shear rate on separation of microorganisms in dynamic filters
The results of experimental investigations on dynamic filtration in a flat module CFF and in a RDF equipped with the disk and turbine impellers have been discussed. No significant differences have been detected between filtration capacities for the two types of filters within the range of shear rate from 10(3) to 10(5) s(-1). No destructive effects of both kinds of impellers in RDF on microorganism viability in experiments lasting from 20 to 80 min. within the above mentioned range of shear rate have not been found. However, a negative influence of shear rate on plant cells' viability has been found.
