Simulation analysis of thermal destruction of Bacillus stearothermophilus spores in a continuous sterilizer
A mathematical model was developed to analyze the performance of a continuous sterilizer fed with a liquid fermentation medium. A computer simulation was used to perform continuous sterilizers processing slurry media in a pilot plant. It was shown that mathematical model of thermal destruction of spores and their dormancy rate have a huge influence on the performance,of a continuous sterilizer. This model can be used to perform continuous sterilizers processing a optional liquid fermentation medium if the specific kinetic rates for micro-organism thermal activation and destruction reactions are known.
