In this short paper, an attempt is made to illustrate how performance of an electrically insulating material, a dielectric, can be improved by constructing a layered binary-dielectric structure that employs a weak insulator with high dielectric permittivity. It is shown that layered binary-dielectrics could have a significant impact on energy storage and electrical insulation. (C) 2011 Elsevier B. V. All rights reserved.
