Radiative transfer characteristics of clouds of atomised coal water slurry drops in a furnace
We consider clouds of spherical water drops with highly absorbing inclusions in a furnace environment. Size and wavelength averaged efficiencies and phase functions are presented. We find that averaged efficiencies vary very little with either drop size or coal size or with radiation temperature if the modal size of the drops is greater than about 200 mum and the volume fraction of coal inclusions is greater than about 0.5. In addition, we find that the shape of the phase function does not vary greatly with coal volume fraction.
