Fundamental study on fiber-reinforced epoxy composites using glass fabric treated by low-temperature ammonia plasma
Glass fabrics were treated with NH3 plasma for interfacial control in glass fiber-reinforced plastics (GFRPs) with epoxy resin. The tensile strength of the GFRPs was improved by the use of glass fabrics treated with NH3 plasma. The plasma technique was also applicable to non-heat-treated glass fabrics, on which starch had remained, for improvement of the strength of their FRPs. As a result, with non-heat-treated glass fabrics treated with NH3 plasma, the GFRPs showed a very high tensile strength.
