제목 | Support screening of Ni-based catalysts for CO2 hydrogenation to CH4 |
초록 | Developing supported metal catalyst for the CO2 methanation reaction (CO2 + 4H2 → CH4 + 2H2O) has been more attention from CO2 utilization to value-added gaseous fuel, mainly methane. Extensive research on Ni-based catalysts has been reported, however, there is still a strong demand for low temperature activity with a superior conversion of CO2 and selectivity to CH4. Motivated by this, we have screened proper support material, mainly rare earth metal oxides (Pr, La, Ce and Ba). The Ni supported on rare earth metal oxides was also compared to the benchmarking counterparts supported on typical catalyst supports such as alumina and silica. We found that the Ni impregnated on PrOx catalyst exhibited a superior performance due to the distinct characteristics in surface basicity, dispersion of active Ni particle and metal-support interaction. At this KIChE spring meeting, we will present the catalytic performance from packed-bed reactor tests and various analysis to support our findings.
