제목 Hydrogen production via ammonia decomposition over Ni-Ru/Al2O3 catalyst for power-to-ammonia process: A numerical investigation
초록 Power-to-ammonia is a promising technology to overcome the problem of intermittent and remote renewable electricity storage and the complex transportation of hydrogen. In this study, a numerical analysis was conducted on the decomposition of ammonia. This latter is produced from green hydrogen that is generated from renewable electricity can be transported in mild storage conditions. The modeled reactor consists of a cylindrical channel filled with a cost-effective Ni-Ru/Al2O3 catalyst that affords high ammonia conversion due to the synergetic effects. The two-dimensional steady-state flow was modeled using a commercial software package, ANSYS Fluent. A parametric study was conducted to investigate the effect of the operating conditions (i.e., inlet velocity, inlet and wall temperature, operating pressure, and catalyst bulk density). The results showed that a temperature above 950 K can lead to the almost total conversion of ammonia, while the operating pressure has a slight effect when increased more than 7 bars compared to the high sensitivity between 1 and 6 bars.
