제목 | Microstructures and tensile behavior of electron beam welded Al6061-T6 for the research reactor fuel assembly |
초록 | Various components of a nuclear fuel assembly for the Ki-jang research reactor(KJRR) is made with A6061-T6. Those components such as side plates, end fitting, fixing bars play an important role to maintain the fuel assembly’s original shape before and after the irradiation. To obtain the robust fuel assembly, the conventional welding processes such as the gas tungsten arc welding and laser beam welding are widely used. However, the formation of welding defects induced by hydrogen during conventional welding have been issued for the last decades. Especially solidification cracking, porosity, and heat-affected zone (HAZ) degradation must be considered during the welding of the nuclear fuel assembly. In this sense, the electron beam welding (EBW) producing a high energy density and low heat input has advantages to welding the Al6061-T6 components of nuclear fuel assembly when it comes to minimizing welding regions and HAZ. In this study, the microstructure and the tensile behavior of electron beam welded Al6061-T6 for the research reactor fuel assembly were investigated. Tensile specimens for the fuel assembly were fabricated with A6061-T6 and the tensile test was performed according to ASTM E8M (‘Standard test methods for tension testing of metallic materials’). The microstructure, fracture surfaces and mechanical properties of the specimens were also analyzed using SEM. |
