Heterogeneous Palladium(II) bulky-aryl group substituted N-Heterocyclic carbene(Pd-NHC) complex is one of the effective catalysts for the Suzuki-Miyaura reaction. The bulky group of Pd-NHC complex causes steric effect that easily makes Pd(II) into activated Pd(0) and reduces activation energy in the oxidative addition step. Alumina has been spotlighted as a stable catalytic support but it has not been investigated profoundly for Suzuki-Myaura reaction. In this research, different kinds of 1-substituted imidazoles were synthesized as a bulky NHC ligand and Pd-NHC complexes were prepared by using the ligands. The Pd-NHC complexes were immobilized on activated alumina, and characterized. We have successfully prepared alumina supported Pd-NHC catalysts, which are effective for Suzuki-Myaura reaction. |
