The removal of 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) from aqueous solution has been studied using bamboo activated carbon. The bamboo chips were impregnated by 30wt% KOH solution for 24 h and then dried at 105◦C for 24 h. The obtained material was placed in a furnace, followed by heating to the carbonization temperature 450◦C at an increasing rate of 5◦C /min and maintaining at the temperature for 0.5 h under N2 flow protection. The BET surface area of bamboo activated carbon was 877 m2/g and total pore volume was 0.259cm3/g. The adsorption isotherm of 2,4-D on bamboo activated carbon well fitted to Sips isotherm. The adsorption capacity of 2,4-D increased with the decrease of temperature and pH of aqueous solution. The batch adsorption rate of 2,4-D on bamboo activated carbon could be approximated favorably by the pseudo-first order sorption model. |
