Effect of silane treatment on toughness behaviors of alumina nanofiber/epoxy nanocomposites |

In this study, alumina nanofibers (ACF) were modified with silane coupling agent to investigate the effects of interfacial interaction between the modified ANF and epoxy matrix on the toughness behaviors of ANF/epoxy nanocomposites. The morphologies and structures of the composites were observed using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), respectively. The surface characteristics were determined by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The mechanical properties were determined by measuring the impact strength and calculating the critical stress intensity factor (KIC). These results demonstrate the successful fabrication of ANF/epoxy nanocomposites with enhanced toughness behaviors. |
