Tuning of Properties of Thermoplastic Poly(ether ester) (TPE) Elastomers |
초록 |
Dimethyl 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylate and poly(tetramethylene ether glycol) (MW = 1000) were chosen as the hard (HS) and soft segments (SS), respectively, and 1,4-butanediol (BDO) as the major chain extender (CE) to synthesize thermoplastic poly(ether ester) (TPEs). In order to investigate the effect of the modulation of CE moiety on the properties of TPE, various CE molecules were used together with BDO as minor CE components. The resulting HSs, due to various interchain forces, can form crystalline or paracrystalline domains that provide physical crosslinking within the elastomer to reinforce the prevailing SS matrix. Considering segmented TPEs consist of a great number of blocks and HS may contain about 5 repeat units while SS can have about 20 repeat units, microphase segregation, thus morphology and physical properties, can be greatly changed. Honeycomb structured films and nanofibers were also successfully fabricated. |
