제목 Adsorption equilibria and kinetics of pelletized activated carbon-based CO-selective adsorbent
초록 The purification and recovery of carbon monoxide (CO) has received great attention due to its poisoning effects on fuel cell and its usefulness as a raw material to produce methanol, acetic acid, etc. For the development of adsorptive cyclic processes to recover or remove carbon monoxide from various effluent gases, adsorption equilibria and kinetics of Cu(I)-impregnated activated carbon-based CO-selective adsorbent (Cu-AC_CO) pellet were studied.

The textural properties, such as surface area and total pore volume of Cu-AC_CO pellet were measured. Adsorption equilibria of H2, CO, CH4, CO2, N2 at three temperatures (298, 308, 318 K) were measured up to 10 bar using the volumetric method. Each experimental isotherm was correlated with the isotherm models such as Langmuir, Sips, etc. Isosteric heat of adsorption was derived from the Clausius-Clapeyron equation. The adsorption kinetics of each gas at various conditions were obtained from the experimental uptake curves using a non-isothermal kinetic model. The effective diffusion time constants (D/R2) of each component were also compared with each other.
