제목 Controlled synthesis of polystyrene and polybutadiene brushes on nanoparticulate silica by living anionic surface-initiated polymerization
초록 Living anionic surface-initiated polymerization on silica surface has been conducted to prepare polystyrene and polybutadiene brushes. Fucntionalized silica using vinylbenzylchlorodimethylsilane(VBS) which was synthesized from vinylbenzylmagnesium chlorides and dichlorodimethylsilane was initiated by sec-BuLi. Polystyrene and polybutadiene brushes could be synthesized by adding styrene and butadiene monomer to surface-initiated silica. The molecular weight of the polymer brushes has been varied between 1000 and 15,000g/mol. When total polymerization yield was 90%, grafting efficiency is 13~44% and when initiation time increased in 1 hour to 2hours, grafting efficiency increased in 25 to 34% and graft density increased in 3.14 to 4.35×108chains/μm2. Characterization of products was done with proton nuclear magnetic resonance(1H-NMR) spectroscopy, gel permeation chromatography(GPC) and scanning electron microscope(SEM) .
