A method for the fabrication of a gold nanopaticle electrode for developing a biosensor was developed by a self-assembly of gold nanoparticles on polythiophene [poly(Th)] and PEDOT-PSS double layers.A matrix of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)poly(styrenesulfonic acid), PEDOT-PSS was firstly coated on to the surface of indium tin oxide (ITO) glass and then a poly(Th) layer was fixed on to the first layer by an electro-oxidative polymerization of thiophene (Th).Finally, the gold nanoparticles were chemisorbed onto the thiol groups of poly(Th).The electrode shows a high sensitivity for the detection of thiol compounds which can be seen by the changes in the surface potential of the electrode when investigated by using a cyclic voltammetry (CV). |
