제목 H2O2-triggered CO2 generating antioxidant nanoparticles for ultrasound imaging and therapeutic effects in the ischemia/reperfusion
초록 Oxidative stress leading to inflammatory diseases was caused by overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS) such as H2O2. It is one of essential oxygen metabolites in living organisms, but is generated in large amounts during inflammatory responses. Therefore, H2O2 has a great potential as diagnostic and therapeutic biomarkers of oxidative stress-associated diseases. In this work, we have developed a novel theranostic agent which is based on H2O2 responsive antioxidant poly(vanillin oxalate) (PVO). PVO nanoparticles generate CO2 bubbles in the presence of H2O2 and release vanillin which is one of the major components of vanilla and exerts potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. PVO nanoparticles can simultaneously show enhanced ultrasound contrast imaging and therapeutic effects in the hepatic I/R injury. We anticipate that PVO nanoparticles have great potential for ultrasound imaging and therapy of H2O2-associated inflammatory diseases.
