To develop an advanced heat managing material (HMM) which can effectively dissipate the problematic heat in the electronic devices, reactive mesogen (RM) was newly synthesized as a building block for the HMM films. Based on the combined techniques of spectroscopy, scattering, and thermal analyses, it was confirmed that the synthesized RM formed a smectic A mesophase. The RM films were fabricated by the photopolymerization in both smetic A mesophase and isotropic phase. Due to their lattice structure of the RM core, the films exhibited outstanding thermal conducting properties over 1 W/mK. In addition, the heat conducting performance of RM film can be amplified in a certain direction by the anisotropic orientation of RM molecules in the network. The RM films can be used as a HMM for electronic devices. This work was supported by Basic Research Laboratory Program (2020R1A4A1018259), Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy (20011031). |
