Synthesis and Characterization of Narrow-Band-Gap Copolymers Containing Alkoxyanthracene for Organic Photovoltaic Applications. |

A new narrow band gap copolymer (PTFTEA) was synthesized by the Suzuki coupling reaction. The polymer was well good soluble in organic solvents such as chloroform and had an average molecular weight of 7.8 x 103 g/mol with a polydispersity index of 1.47. The polymer with high yield was characterized by 1H-NMR, FT-IR. The photophysical property was investigated by UV and PL Spectrum. The polymer showed broad absorption peaks at 618~650 nm in solution and at 668~723 nm in film, respectively. The polymer showed UV-vis absorption edge at 693 nm in solution and at 757 nm in film, respectively. The electrochemical property was investigated by CV. The polymer showed HOMO energy level at -5.36 eV. The thermal property was investigated by DSC and TGA. The polymer showed Tg at 78 oC and 5% weight loss at 320 oC. The polymer showed narrow band gap and found to be suitable for high-performance, soluble process, and large-area polymeric photovoltaic cells. |
