In this study, a simultaneous polyurethane and triazole curing system has been introduced into a new binder recipe in which azide groups in the polymer react with triple bonds of a dipolarophile curing agent (click reaction). Glycidyl azide polymer (GAP) was cured through polyurethane reaction with isophorone diisocyanate and azide-alkyne “click reaction” with PPG-based cross-linkers as dipolarophile curing agent. The PPG-based cross-linkers were synthesized with propargyl 3-carboxylic-propanoate and series of poly(propylene glycol) (PPG) (Mn=76, 425, and 1,000 g/mol). Crosslinking density and the molecular weights between the crosslinking points (Mc) were determined from swelling data, and Flory-Rehner equation. Thermal and mechanical properties of these polyurethane networks were measured and analyzed as a function of crosslinking density and Mc. |
