제목 Investigation of the Rheological Properties of Microencapsulated PCM Slurry for Use in Cold Energy Transportation Media
초록 It was known that microcapsule with high heat capacities over 200 J/g due to the phase changes of the core material can be prepared. The objectives of the current research are to prepare microcapsules containing phase change materials (PCM) as the core and investigate the rheological properties of slurry with these capsules such as the apparent viscosity, pressure drop, dynamic viscosity, and Friction factor. Accordingly, experiments were performed under various reaction conditions, and MF microcapsules with tetradecane as a core within a range of 1∼50 μm were prepared using an in-situ polymerization method in a batch-stirred reactor. The rheological properties of prepared capsule slurries were investigated by using a Brookfield LVDV-Ⅱ viscometer and the pressure drop measurement in a circular pipe was also carried out. The additives were effective to reduce the viscosity and the slurry with additive behaved practically as a Newtonian fluid. It was shown that PCM microcapsule slurries can be used in practical application such as an air-conditioning system in buildings.
