Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) was applied for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) reaction owing to its higher chemical stability and tunable electronic structure. Although there are many studies using g-C3N4 as an iron-based FTS catalyst, the cobalt-based FTS catalysts on the g-C3N4 has been rarely reported. In this present study, we investigated FTS reaction over the cobalt supported on the mesoporous g-C3N4, which was made by using KIT-6 hard template. The catalytic activity on the Co/g-C3N4 without any additional reduction process was found to be superior compared to the mesoporous carbon support such as CMK-3, which seems to be attributed to the facile reduction of cobalt oxides with small particle size of the supported cobalt nanoparticles. The physical and electronic properties of the Co/g-C3N4 were verified by N2 sorption, H2 and He TPR, TGA and XAFS analysis. |
