Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Modeling of Tubular Reactors for Topside Process of Offshore Plants |
초록 |
Application of computer modeling in optimizing topside system of offshore plants for the processing of natural gas resources at remote locations have been gaining worldwide attention. It is due to its cost-effective advantages in designing reactors for these systems. Various parameters (i.e. reactor length, gas flow rate, inlet temperature, etc.) are vital for the design of reactors in floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) systems. In this study, a tubular reactor with a cooling jacket used for the exothermic reaction was modeled using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). A three-dimensional (3D) model was utilized in assessing the influence of various operating parameters on the conversion and temperature profiles inside the reactor. The CFD model was validated using the reaction kinetics obtained from experimental results. Model calibration and optimization was performed to predict the maximum overall yield of the product. |
