Synthesis of Low Bandgap, Conjugated Polymers Based on Diketopyrrolopyrrole and Benzothiadiazole |

A novel conjugated polymer comprising containing benzothiadiazole (BT), diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP), 3-hexylthiophene (HT) was successfully synthesized by microwave-assisted cross-coupling reactions. The conjugated backbone composed of DPP, HT and BT monomer units effectively reduced the energy bandgap of the final polymers by donor-acceptor strategy. These monomers were incorporated into a polymer backbone via direct heteroarylation polymerization in a moderate condition. Its chemical structures and photovoltaic properties were carefully investigated by using various characterization techniques. |
