Gold (Au), silver(Ag) and quantum dot (QD) nanoparticles, which have been extensively used in many fields, were encapsulated with a natural polymer, chitosan, to improve their biocompatibility. It was found that Au and Ag were smaller than chitosan-encapsulated Au and Ag nanoparticles, of a sufficiently small size, and this result was then applied in the chitosan encapsulation of QDs. The usage of chitosan-encapsulated nanoparticles such as Au, Ag, and QDs nanoparticles can be then found in the area of biomedical applications. |
