Preparation of petroleum-based pitch with improved impregnation performance through molecular weight distribution tailoring |
초록 |
Pitch impregnation plays a key role in production of premium grade graphite artifacts. The impregnation process enhances performances of graphite artifacts by optimizing physical defects like channels and pores created during carbonization or graphitization. In this study, we have investigated the effects of impregnation process conditions on the performances of resulting graphite artifacts. We have synthesized a petroleum-based impregnating pitch from pyrolysis fuel oil (PFO) through thermal condensation followed by solvent extraction. Its resulting properties and impregnation performance was investigated and compared with a commercial coal-tar-based impregnation pitch. Prior to the impregnation experiments, rheological behavior was analyzed at the process temperature by the simulation at environment, and the process condition was determined according to the analysis. |
