Ionic Liquid-Incorporated Polymer Electrolyte for DSSC Application. |

Dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) is present as an alternative energy source in place of photo electrochemical solar cell after the novel work of Gratzel et al. The existence of liquid electrolytes showed many practical problems like leakage, corrosion and so fourth. Replacing a liquid electrolyte by a polymer electrolyte seems to be a solution of these problems. Polymer electrolytes with an ionic liquid (IL) may be a suitable alternative to improve their conductivities for DSSC application. Here we used a low viscosity ionic liquid, 1-ethyl 3-methylimidazolium thiocyanate in order to increase the ionic conductivity (σ) of polymer electrolyte (PEO : KI) and DSSC efficiency. The doping of KI and addition of IL enhanced σ. The maximum σ was 8.86 Ⅹ 10-4 S/cm at 80 wt% of IL concentration. Beyond this it was harder to get stable films. The efficiency of solar cell having configuration of TiO2/PEO : KI/I2 + 80 wt% IL/CE showed 3.02% efficiency at 100 mW/cm2. |
